Yay! Back on schedule!! (Sort of).
VERSE OF THE WEEK
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
-John 16:13
DEVOTION
Last week, we talked about how and why we need to communicate with God. But we might often wonder if God is communicating back. Possibly asking things along the lines of “Does He hear me? How does He talk to us? Why can’t I hear Him?”
The short answer is, (well, knowing me, it’s never really a ‘short’ answer
^-^) yes, He does. But how?
He reveals Himself through creation (Romans 1:18-21). As it states in Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
God’s Word is also His way of communication. Think of the Bible like a love letter. From God to us. True love, is sacrifice, which God showed through the sacrifice of His Son to save us from our sin. In His Word, He tells us bits of His plan for us, how much He loves us, but also disciplining us. He tells us His promises, He comforts us, and can give us peace. We sometimes get so caught up in talking to Him that we forget to listen ourselves to what He has to say. (I am very guilty of that). Sometimes, we just need to be still and listen. After all, He gave us two ears and only one mouth. :)
We’ll talk next time of whether things can hinder or stop God from hearing our prayers.
QOTW
Has there been a time when you felt like God revealed Himself to you through friends, family, the Bible, nature, experiences etc.?
